RCEC has participated in this contest since 1995 and has sponsored 51 students on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.  Applications are now available on this website, in your area schools, and in our office located at 121 N. Main Street, Portales.  The deadline is December 2, 2022, by 5 pm in our office.  The 2023 Youth Tour is scheduled for June 2023.  We will post the exact date of the youth tour as soon as that information becomes available.  The deadline for the 2023 YT application has now passed.  

The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Objectives and Purpose-

More than 1,500 students from all across America take part in the Youth Tour experience each year, and so can you! 

Meet elected officials to better understand how their federal government works.  You will visit the museums, memorials, monuments, and cooperative-related organizations in order to become familiar with the historical and political environment of their nation's capital. 

To educate youth on all aspects of rural electrification, in order to promote a better understanding of the value of rural electric cooperatives.    

Only students who are juniors and seniors attending high school are eligible to apply.  

Applications and requirements are available at your high school counselor's office, RCEC office located at 121 N. Main, Portales, NM and on our website.
